![]() For over 40 years, abortion rights and human life have been a political hot button in our nation and beyond. Since 1973 when abortion was legalized in the United States, over 50 million women have chosen that path. It is estimated that 43% of all women will have at least 1 abortion by the time they are 45 years old. CAPNCM Women’s Health Services hopes to help change those statistics. The abortion rate among women living below 100% of the federal poverty level is nearly four times that of women above 200% of poverty. By providing low-income women access to low cost contraceptives and family planning information with the aid of Title X funding, the CAPNCM Women’s Health Services program has been helping to prevent unplanned pregnancy, and providing alternatives to abortion, for nearly 50 years. The program strongly advocates alternatives to abortion, giving women and teens other options when faced with what can be a very terrifying situation. Not only does the WHS program help prevent unplanned pregnancy, it also helps to detect breast and cervical cancer, treat gynecological problems and infections, and help halt the spread of these infections. These services are open to everyone, regardless of income, and clinics are currently available in ten locations across northern Missouri. If you would like to learn more about this program, or schedule an appointment to visit with our on-staff nurse practitioner, please call CAPNCM at 877-611-7600. Bright Futures USA operates under the belief that when communities invest their time, talent, and treasure in their schools, students are more likely to stay in school through graduation, have a higher degree of self-worth and confidence, and set and reach goals for the future. In turn, these students grow up to be better neighbors, quality employees, and impactful leaders in their communities. Check out their FAQ here: http://www.brightfuturesusa.org/domain/44

CAPNCM Provides Quality Women’s Health Services
Many women living in northern Missouri rely on Community Action Partnership of North Central Missouri for their health-care needs. Community Action Partnership of North Central Missouri Women’s Health Services clinics are open to everyone living near our service area, regardless of age or financial situation. Fees for our confidential services are charged on a sliding scale based on the patient’s income; private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid are also accepted, as well as donations from patients and the public. CAPNCM’s Women’s Health Services schedules around 100 clinics per year where women can receive their annual breast and reproductive system examinations, family-planning information, and other related services from our on-staff nurse practitioner. The health clinics also provide limited services to men, most often related to reproductive health. Reproductive health services provided through the clinics include: complete examination of the female reproductive system, Pap Smear tests to check for early signs of cancer, breast examinations, diagnosis and treatment of minor gynecological problems and diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases. Staff can also provide education on birth control methods and on natural family planning. Birth control supplies are also available at the clinics. While the staff of Women’s Health Services focuses mainly on reproductive health, they do refer patients to other medical and mental health providers when needed. More women are seeking low-cost reproductive health services while state and federal funds to help pay for these services continue to be cut. Nearly 350,000 Missouri women use publicly supported contraceptive care and the money spent on public health services is not wasted. For every government dollar spent on family planning services, an average of $7 is saved as a result of averting short-term expenditures on medical services, welfare and nutritional services. Regular annual examinations also can detect cancer and other diseases in early, treatable stages, saving patients and the public even more money. CAPNCM’s Women’s Health Services offers clinics in Caldwell, Carroll, Chariton, Daviess, Grundy, Harrison, Linn, Livingston, Putnam and Ray counties. Most clinics are conducted during business hours, but some evening and weekend clinics are scheduled. For information or to schedule an appointment for a clinic, please call the CAPNCM office toll-free at 1-877-611-7600. http://www.greenhillswomenshealth.org Orscheln Industries Foundation Inc. has made a $250 donation to CAPNCM to be used towards our Women's Health Services Program! The Federal Poverty Guidelines are issued each year in the Federal Register by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The guidelines are a simplification of the poverty thresholds for use for administrative purposes — for instance, determining financial eligibility for certain federal programs. The poverty guidelines are sometimes loosely referred to as the “federal poverty level” (FPL). View current guidelines.
